Dawn of Indo-Myanmar economic relations; Kovind inaugurate fifth Enterprise India Myanmar Exhibition

Yangon, December 13: In his third official day to Myanmar, Indian president Ram Nath Kovind has inaugurated the 5th Enterprise India Myanmar Exhibition today. The Vice president of Myanmar, Indian Ambassador Vikram Misri, the minister of Finance and planning, Minister of Education, Minister of Commerce and the Agriculrural Minister graced the occasion by attending the same. Earlier today, Kovind visited the mausoleum of Mughal Emperor bahadur Shah Zafar in Yangon with his family. He offered deep prayers to the grave and paid respect by offering Chadar.
 
“This show is a platform to bring the Indian and Myanmar businesses together extending to investment opportunities. This Indian presidential visit and the various activities constituting the part of visit are also the culminating event of the 70th anniversary of the India Myanmar diplomatic relations. There are various opportunities for the growing trade and investment linkages between India and Myanmar.”, said Vikrant Misri while addressing.
 
 
“This particular exhibition is focused on the small and medium enterprises as more than 95% of the Myanmar companies falls into the SME category and contributes to 35% of the Nation’s GDP. Banks play a major role in the context. I urge the banking entitie son both the sides to take advantage of the bilateral MOUs that already exist between India and Myanmar on banking co-operation in this regard.”, he added further.
 
“Myanmar and India are close neighbours and abiding friends. However the trade and investment partnership between the two remains modest. We both are committed to raise the level of the same overall. There are multiple opportunities where the duo can aid each other in economic development.”, said Kovind in his address.
 
 
“Myanmar is seeking to make an economic transitionand India has established itself as the fastest growing economy in the world, the two countries can learn much from each other’s competencies. The Enterprise India show, has brought the best of Indian products, services, innovation and know how to business partners, start ups, incubators and customers in Myanmar.”, he added further.
 
 
 
“Myanmar is already reforming it’s policies to attract business and capital. The creation of separate ministry of investment and foreign economic relations is very impressive. I hope it will be able to increase the attractiveness of Myanmar as an investment destination.”, he concluded in relation.
