‘Passport Mela' to be organized in Jammu to curb waiting period

Jammu, February 1: In a bid to bring down the waiting period in the appointment cycle and expedite the application process of the local and outstation applicants, Passport Office Jammu has decided to organize special ‘Passport Mela' in Jammu on February 3 of this year.


Notably, the ‘Passport Mela' will be held between 9 AM to 4:30 PM at PSK Jammu, to process applications of local and outstation applicants. The appointments for the passport mela would be allotted by the system as per availability for 3rd February. The mela also aims to give special emphasis to facilitate the applicants falling under the category of senior citizen, minor, illiterate, Hajj/Umrah and family persons willing to get their case process at a single time.

The Regional Passport Officer (RPO) of Jammu, NK Shil said that as many as 320 appointments for 3rd February have been released, therefore, applicants need to submit the Passport Application Form online for fresh/re-issue of passport under normal category and book prior appointment before visiting Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) Jammu.

Giving a detailed information on this, he said, "Applicants are requested to log on to the passport India website www.passportindia.gov.in to fill and submit the application form online, make payment of passport fee online through debit/credit card or internet banking of SBI.”

The passport officers also noted that all the applicants are required to visit the passport office in person for application processing, biometrics and photographs. On the appointment date/time, the applicants along with a printout of appointment letter and original documents must visit the PSK Jammu for processing their passport applications," he added.
