Security forces killed two LeT terrorists in #KaranNagar encounter; arms and ammunition recovered

Srinagar, February 13: Security forces on Tuesday eliminated two terrorists after a fierce encounter that took place in Jammu and Kashmir's Karan Nagar area of Srinagar city after they led an ambush at CRPF headquarters. The body of slain terrorists along with arms and ammunition were recovered from the encounter site. Mopping operation is underway.

 

Notably, two heavily armed terrorists belonged to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) to sneak into the CRPF headquarters in Karan Nagar area in wee hours on Monday due to the alertness of the Camp Gate Guard. As soon as the incident was reported security forces launched a combat operation and eliminated two terrorists who were holed up near CRPF headquarters in Karan Nagar area of Srinagar city.


CRPF spokesman said that both the terrorist who had taken refuge in the building in the periphery of 23rd Battalion CRPF Headquarters, have been killed. He also added that the body of slain terrorists along with arms and ammunition were recovered from the encounter site.

Both the terrorists who were holed up near CRPF headquarters in Karan Nagar area of Srinagar city, have been killed in an encounter with the security forces. Unfortunately, one CRPF constable Mujahid Khan lost his life in the initial phase of the anti-terrorist operation on Monday. However, a Jammu and Kashmir police personnel also sustained injuries. Authorities have imposed strict restrictions under Section 144 in old city areas since Tuesday morning.

Earlier, on February 11, the Indian Army eliminated four terrorists belonged to Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terror outfit after a fierce encounter that took place in Jammu’s Sunjuwan military camp. Importantly, the terrorist had attacked the same army station in 2006. Twelve soldiers were killed and seven others were injured in that attack before the two fidayeen (suicide) terrorists were killed.
