New Delhi, February 20: Ensuring productivity and providing beneficiaries to the farmer, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the roadmap for doubling farmers' income by 2022, saying that it will not be done by using old approach.

 

Highlights:

Farmer’s efforts have turned out to be quite beneficial with the increase in production of pulses from almost 17 million tons to about 23 million tons

To enhance revenue for farmers, the government will take up seed market decision to boost the eco system benefiting the farmers.

Increase in farmer’s income will curtail four different levels by understanding the following points:

1.    how to decrease the production cost of farmers

2.    increase their minimum support price

3.    stop wastage of crops

4.    provide additional income to farmers.

Neem coating has become very beneficial and useful as the adaptability of urea has reduced giving out more production

Due to soil health card, the usage of chemical fertilisers has decreased by 8-10%, while at the same time; the production has increased by 5-6%.

Issues concerning to farmer taking loans, the government has increased the amount from 8 lakh crore to 11 lakh crore in the past three years.

Under the GrAM project, farmers will be linked to markets with 22 thousand ‘Gramin Haats’ getting a proper infrastructural upgrades integrating APMC and e-Nam with it.
