Bengaluru, February 7: Citing major violation in the proposed Mukhya Mantri Anila Bhagya Yojane crafted by Siddaramaiah led Congress government, Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has asked state government to review the existing provision and action plan adopted by the state government.

Considered as the pet project of Siddaramaiah, Anila Bhagya Yojane would provide gas connection facility for below Poverty Line families of Karnataka. Ahead of the Karnataka assembly elections, Congress wants to strike the gold by providing free LPG connections targeting near about 27 lakh families.

According to media reports, the center has already questioned the procedure approved by Siddaramaiah government where state government is reportedly violating the directives of Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister under the flagship programme of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana launched by PM Narendra Modi.

Expressing concern over the course of implementation, the central ministry maintained that if state government continues with its own model without amending procedures as per policy framework issued by the center, the scheme might lead to the state of confusion among beneficiaries. Petroleum Ministry officials also objected the publicity material mentioning about the joint collaboration of state and central government, which was surfaced in social media.

Anila Bhagya Scheme, a brainchild of Siddaramaiah, was announced on July 6, 2017. If everything goes well, the Karnataka government will be dedicating this scheme most probably in the second week of February.
