Pyongyang, February 8: Ahead of winter Olympics, North Korea held a military parade and rally on Kim Il Sung Square on Thursday. As per South Korean media the parade was smaller, low-key military parade.

"South Korea and the United States learned that North Korea's military parade started at 11:30 a.m. (Seoul time)" at Kim Il-sung Square in the capital city, a South Korean source said as quoted by Yonhap. The report says, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un was also present in the parade.

South Korean local media says a video footage was published which was curtailed both in length and program from the previous one last year. Even, North this time advised to skip the live broadcast of street event which is very rare in manner. South Korean specialists are seeing it as an attempt to keep it low-key.

The North had insisted on the event instead of criticism from the US and others about its timing. This was held a day before the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics. Now worldpowers are seeing it as a setback to the resumption with the South over the Games.
