New Delhi, March 12: One of the fastest rapid transit systems in the NCR, Delhi Metro will expand its new Pink line from March 14. Metro service on the 21.56-km Majlis Park-Durgabai Deshmukh South Campus corridor would be open for public from 6 pm on March 14.

According to an official press release “The 21.56 kilometer long Majlis Park – Durgabai Deshmukh South Campus Metro corridor will be formally flagged off by the Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs (Independent Charge), Hardeep Singh Puri and Chief Minister of the National Capital Territory of Delhi,. Arvind Kejriwal on 14th March (Wednesday) at 4 PM from Metro Bhawan.

Passenger services on the stretch will begin from 6 PM on the same day from the Majlis Park and Durgabai Deshmukh South Campus stations simultaneously. This section is part of the 59 kilometers long Majlis Park-Shiv Vihar corridor (Pink Line – Line 7) of Delhi Metro’s Phase 3.”

The three interchange stations will connect commuters with Yellow Line (Huda City Centre-Samaypur Badli) at Azadpur, Red Line (Rithala-Dilshad Garden) at Netaji Subhash Place and with Blue Line (Dwarka Sector 21-Noida City Centre) at Rajouri Garden.

Encircling almost the entire Ring Road (Mahatma Gandhi Road), the line, once complete, will be beneficial to a large number of commuters -- especially those living in localities along Ring Road like Punjabi Bagh, Wazirabad and Shalimar Bagh, which are so far unconnected with any direct Metro service going towards south Delhi.
