New Delhi, March 7: The Delhi High Court on Wednesday raises questions over law and order situation in the National capital while hearing the bail plea of one of the two AAP MLAs, arrested for allegedly assaulting Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash.
“At a place where the chief minister is sitting, a person is assaulted. What is the law and order situation. This is happening in front of the chief minister. I am not going on the personality of the person who was assaulted. You need to answer this,” Justice Gupta said.
“I am concerned that if a person is assaulted in the presence of the chief minister and deputy chief minister, what will happen at other places? How should I be satisfied that no such incident would take place in future?” the judge asked further.
AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan who has been arrested for physically assaulting Delhi's Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash has filed a bail plea in the Delhi High Court yesterday. Also, another AAP MLA Prakash Jarwal too who had been held by Delhi Police along with Khan had filed a bail plea on March 1st.
Jarwal and Khan are undergoing 14-day judicial custody, which expires on Thursday. However, on February 23rd the Tis Hazari Court had declined the duo's bail plea earlier. The MLAs had assaulted the Chief Secretary on February 20.
