Transport Ministry opens up “Road Safety Week” to guard priceless lives with awareness campaigns

New Delhi, April 23: Inaugurating “Road Safety Week”, Union Minister for Transport Nitin Gadkari pledged for ‘Road Safety’. Minister Gadkari released a book named "Have a Safe Journey". Further, he also took an oath to follow the 'safety rules' for healthy lives.

Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has inaugurated the 29th Road Safety Week at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. Inaugurating the Road Safety Week, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said that “Every person's life is priceless. We take the resolve that we will go safely on the road and take care of the safety of others. Let us altogether drive the road safety campaign.”

 

Besides administering Road Safety oath, Nitin Gadkari said it is government's priority to ensure the safety of people on road and common man’s cooperating is imperative. He further also said that the central government has increased the number of National Highways keeping in mind the traffic density and various other factors.

With the objective to sensitise people about road safety, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has organised 29th edition of Road Safety Week from today to 30th of this month.

During the week, creating awareness about various causes of road accidents and measures to prevent them will be highlighted through various activities involving students, drivers and other road users. The Road Transport and Highways Ministry has directed all state governments, as well as organizations and departments associated with road safety, to create awareness about traffic rules.
