New Delhi, May 16: Amidst the political uncertainty, Karnataka government has urged supreme court to halt the ongoing trial of Cauvery water dispute. Citing the reason of hung assembly, the state government has requested the top court to adjourn the case till the formation of the government.

In recently held Karnataka polls, no party has got an absolute majority. BJP with 104 seats has emerged as the single largest party whereas congress witnessed a humiliating defeat with 78 seats. Regional player JD(S) has ended up with 37 seats. But in a dramatic move, Congress party has extended its unconditional support to Deve Gouda’s outfit. All eyes on Governor Vajubhai Vala’s move.

According to media reports, Tamil Nadu state government has opposed the plea of the neighboring state. In Cauvery water dispute, after the submission of the draft by the center, the apex court will take the final call on the formation of much anticipated Cauvery management board to implement the directions of the Supreme Court’s verdict. Tamil Nadu and Karnataka are fighting a legal battle on the issue of water sharing of Cauvery river.
