Panaji, May 25: Finally a good news for the travelers between Mumbai and Goa, as a new mode of transportation has been opened for them that is waterways. Now soon you will be reaching Goa via a cruise too as a sea trial between Mumbai and Goa was successfully carried out on Wednesday.

It has been decided to start the official run from September this year. Each ship will be able to carry 400 passengers. Departure time from each dock will be 5 pm, with no halts on the way. Minimum fare for the cruise from Mumbai to Goa has been set at Rs 7500. This will be inclusive of meals and brunch.

This is one of the parts to develop Cruise tourism in the country which will add a cherry to the cake of tourism. The government, in its plan to boost cruise tourism in India, has floated proposals to link Mumbai with other tourist places of the country as well as parts of Southeast Asia. The cruise tourism segment would also play a major role in providing employment to thousands of youths.

Under the ambitious Sagarmala project, this is one of the small milestones towards it. For the first time, a separate session with Public Private Partnership (PPP) operators and other stakeholders was held to obtain feedback, to fast-track the implementation of projects and to restart the slowed down projects.
