Ajay Devgn to star in biopic of legendary football coach Syed Abdul Rahim

Mumbai, July 13: Days after the official announcement of Chanakya biopic, ace actor Ajay Devgn has once again signed for a period drama. This time, Ajay will star in a biopic on legendary football coach Syed Abdul Rahim.

The yet untitled project will be produced by Zee studies in collaboration with Boney Kapoor, Joy Sengupta, Akash Chawla and Fresh Lime Films.

'Tevar' fame Amit Sharma will be helming the sports drama whereas Saiwyn Quadras and Ritesh Shah teamed up for Screenplay and dialogue. Saiwyn Quadras has movies like Parmanu, Neerja Mary Kom at his credit.

Director Amit Sharma will narrate the fascinating tale of the unsung hero of India Indian football. Syed Abdul Rahim was coach and manager of Indian football team 1950 and 1963. Rahim was instrumental in shaping Indian football team. Under his guide, India had knocked the doors of1956 Melbourne Olympic Football semi-finals.

In 1962 Asian Games held in Jakarta, Indonesia, the Indian team had fetched gold by crushing South Korea. Syed Abdul Rahim had a seminal contribution to Indian football.

Ajay Devgn along with maverick director Neeraj Pandey will recreate the epic era of Arya Chanakya on the big screen. The project will be bankrolled by Reliance Entertainment in collaboration with Plan C and Friday Filmworks.

Next year, Ajay will be seen in another period drama based on the life Tanhaji, a close aide of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj where Young director Om Raut is helming the project.

The 49-year-old actor was last seen in Raj Kumar Gupta's crime-action ‘Raid’ where he played the role of a righteous senior income tax officer Amay Patnaik.
