Quetta, July 14: Ahead of July 25 general election, two deadly bomb blasts have not only shaken Pakistan but the whole world. At least 133 innocent civilians were killed and over 200 injured in two separate terrorist attacks on political rallies in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday.

The first bomb blast targeted Akram Khan Durrani, Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal candidate from NA-35 that took place in the Bannu area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He, however, survived but 4 civilians were killed while 30 others were injured.

Meanwhile, the second bomb blast took place in Balochistan targeting Nawabzada Siraj Raisani, Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) candidate for a Provincial Assembly seat. Along with him, 128 others were killed and as many as 150 people were injured in the tragic incident.

Soon after the blast, all the injured were transported to different hospitals in Quetta and Mastung. An emergency was declared in all government hospitals in Mastung and Quetta which were littered with bodies and injured. Hospital authorities said that the death toll may increase as some of the injured are in critical condition.

Home Minister of Balochistan Agha Umar Bangulzai said, “Around 128 people have been killed and 150 injured in the suicide attack.” The banned Tehreek-Taliban Pakistan’s ‘Ghazi force Lal Masjid’ wing in a Whatsapp message has claimed responsibility for the suicide attack.

This attack is the deadliest terror strike in Pakistan since a terror assault on an Army school in Peshawar in December 2014 in which nearly 150 people, mostly students, were killed. The law and order have suddenly deteriorated ahead of the general elections in the country. Pakistan President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nasirul Mulk condemned the attacks in separate statements.

On Tuesday, at least20 people were killed including Awami National Party leader Haroon Bilour and dozen others were injured after a suicide bomber detonated himself in Pakistan’s Peshawar. The banned terror outfit Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the Peshawar suicide blast.
