Mumbai, August 20: As Kerala continues to battle with the worst flood of the century, Maharashtra comes to its rescue as it announced financial aid of Rs 20 Cr to God’s own country. Not only does Maharashtra support Kerala financially but also has set up a 24x7 relief camp for the people in need along with sending a group of 95 doctors to avail the medical facility to the thousands in those camps.

Never giving up! This is the mantra proclaimed by them all as we see numerous people shelling out to rescue and relief camps in Kerala flood. Losing the loved ones, houses, properties cannot be retrieved or revived but the least people can support Keralites is by donating generously. Having a similar outlook to difficult situations, Maharashtra government has announced that they will help Kerala in each and every possible way.

The heavy rains that lashed Kerala from last some days have played havoc in the state resulting in massive loss of life and property besides uprooting lakhs of people from their homes and hearths. The deluge has engulfed most areas in the state. The state government is coordinating with various social and voluntary organizations to immediately send food and other help to the flood-hit people of Kerala. CM Fadanvis appealed to all the communities in the state to extend all possible help to them.

Supply food for the flood-affected people of Kerala was the top priority and in view of this the state government has established contacts and coordinated with various social, voluntary organizations and commercial establishments to supply food to Kerala people. MCHI-Credai has provided food worth Rs 1.5 crore. Rajasthani Welfare Association gave Rs 51 lakh and Jito International announced help of Rs 51 lakh. So far, 11-ton food has been made available and out of that 6 ton has been dispatched.

Standing strong at this difficult time with Kerala, the Indian Railway has also extended a supporting hand with supplying drinking water from Pune and Ratlam. The railway is providing 15 Lakh liters of water to Kerala from Pune and Ratlam.

Apart from this generous gesture, the Indian Railway also dispatched one rake containing 2500 tonnes of rice from Raipur Store Depot by Govt. of Chattisgarh for Kerala. In this, the Indian Railways didn't charge any freight for this consignment.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also said that the government with various agencies like Department of Relief & Rehabilitation, Mangrove Cell of the Forest Department, MCGM, Mumbai Collector, Mumbai Suburban Districts, Controller of Rationing, Commissioner, F&D & Protocol department is working 24x7 with the Indian Air Force, Indian Navy & Coast Guards for relief coordination.

In this time of crisis, the state of Kerala will not face this griming situation alone but the entire country will come together. Government organizations, PSUs, Chief Minister’s office and various other sources have vowed to donate their one month salary to the flood-hit state Kerala.
