Sakshi Malik bags silver at Medved International Wrestling tournament

Minsk, September 18: Rio Olympics Bronze medalist Sakshi Malik on Monday made India proud. Though, she lost her final bout at the Medved International Wrestling tournament which was held at Belarus but still managed to clinch silver medal. On the other side, Pooja Dhanda bagged a Bronze medal in the tournament. 

 

Notably, in the finals of 62 kg category at the Medved International Wrestling tournament, Sakshi Malik lost to Hungary's Marianna Sastin, 2-6 to finish second best. Earlier in the tournament, Malik had defeated Elmira Gambarova of Azerbaijan 6-2 in the semi-final to set up a title clash against Sastin.

Meanwhile, another Indian wrestler Pooja Dhanda bagged a Bronze medal in the 57 kg category after she produced a superb performance in the repechage round. In the recently concluded 18th edition of the Asian Games, Malik had lost her bronze medal bout 2-12 against Rim jong sim of Korea in the women's 62 kg freestyle wrestling category.
