North Korea warns for ‘New Path’ if the US doesn’t keep promise

Pyongyang, Jan 1: On the New Year’s Eve, in the new year speech, leader of North Korea, Kim Joug Un said, “If the US does not keep its promise made in front of the whole world and insists on sanctions and pressures on our republic, we may be left with no choice but to consider a new way to safeguard our sovereignty and interests.”
He said this after twelve months of diplomatic rapprochement, Kim referred summit with US President Donald Trump in Singapore in June.
At the time, the two leaders signed the pledge on denuclearization of the Korean peninsula, which pledge criticized as “Vague”, but, for clarity of pledge, Washington and Pyongyang arguing till date.
In this address, Kim said that he is ready to discuss with US President again in future and will make efforts by all means to produce the result which will be welcomed by the international community.
On January 1, 2018, Kim ordered mass production of missiles and bombs and warned the whole US mainland was "within the range of our nuclear strike and the 'nuclear button' is on my office desk all the time.
North Korea is subject to multiple sets of UN Security Council sanctions over its banned nuclear and ballistic weapons programs, which has seen it carry out six atomic tests and launch rockets capable of reaching the entire US mainland. While North has stopped missile and nuclear testing, there has been the little indication from Pyongyang is working towards complete and verifiable denuclearization as the US has expected.
In his speech, Tuesday, Kim said, the US and North Korea no longer carry out joint military exercise, which is largely halted after Singapore meeting, he called this, as these drills are the source of tension.
He also added war-related equipment including strategic assets of outside powers should no longer be allowed to be brought in.
