New Delhi, Jan 8: Private FM channels will be able to broadcast All India Radio News from Today. The milestone by Prasarbharati for wider dissemination of News on both digital and terrestrial fronts.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore launched the sharing of All India Radio’s news with private FM channels in New Delhi today.
At this function, Col. Rathore said, “citizens will now be able to hear news on any radio platform that will help to create more awareness.”
Further, he added, it is the matter of happiness that common citizen can now listen to the news in any FM channel. This will empower citizens.
On this historical decision, Prasar Bharati chairman, A. Surya Prakash said, “It is a historical moment for India’s public service broadcasters to collaborate with the private radio broadcasters in the country.”
The free service will be available on trial basis up to May 31, 2019. This service comes with conditions that news broadcast will not be altered, must be carried out in their entirety with commercials and only after private FM radio broadcasters register themselves with AIR to avail the service.
Prasar Bharati also imposed same conditions such as it is mandatory to FM channels to give due credit to AIR for sharing its new.
According to the official statement, this decision of news sharing followed a demand for private FM channels to broadcast AIR news.
