Sarsanghachalak speaking at the concluding ceremony

Nagpur 6 June

Swayamsevaks can not remain mute spectators to the things happening in the Country.  Even without formal directions, the swayamsevaks themselves are inculcated with a sense of responsibility to join such agitations - like current anti-corruption agitation - which are of prime national interest, RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri. Mohan Bhagwat  said.

He was addressing a massive gathering at the Reshimbag grounds at the valedictory function of the 3rd year course of the RSS. Kanchi-Kamakoti Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswati presided over the function. Shri. Ganga Raju, a businessman from Andhra Pradesh and national vice president of Vishva Hindu Parishad, was the chief guest.

The crackdown on agitation anti democratic and barbaric
Pointing out that the agitation was non-political and it did not target any party or individuals, Shri. Bhagwat condemned in very strong words the midnight crackdown on peaceful protesters on Ramlila ground of Delhi. This is simply not done in a democracy, he said. Just few hours before the crackdown, the government said it was in agreement with the issues raised by Baba Ramdev. The differences were only on how to implement policies to check corruption and bring back the black money. Then what was the need of such harsh action? he asked. The action was so outrageous that some people have described it  as "Jallianwala Bagh"-like attack and for some it was a recall of the era of Emergency, he said.

The dialogue should continue
By this action, the Government has closed the channel of communication with the agitators. The government should not stop the dialogue and the process should continue, he demanded. After all, “What’s wrong in demanding that black money should be brought back and corruption should be curbed?” Bhagwat asked. A time bound program to address the issues raised of agitators is the need of the hour, he said.

The basic work of RSS more relevant today
The RSS had in its 'Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha' held at Puttur in March resolved to support the agitations aimed at eradicating corruption. Therefore Swayamsevaks supported and shall continue to support all anti-corruption drives, he said. In the same resolution, we have pointed out that just a fresh set of laws and policies were not enough, the society and every individual should change. In this social change, moral values and ethics are crucial. That is the basic work of RSS and it is becoming more and more relevant and important, he emphasized.

Proposed communal violence bill unfair to Hindus
Questioning the constitutional status of the national advisory council, he wondered who gave NAC the authority to draft a proposed law. It is aimed at keeping the country divided along communal lines and keeping various communities engaged in mutual fight. It has been designed to suppress the Hindus, Shri. Bhagwat said. If Anna Hajare and Baba Ramdev are dubbed outsiders, then what about the NAC members? Are they also not outsiders by the same criteria? He asked.

Shankaracharya of Kanchi Kamkoti Peetham, Jayendra Saraswati, told the gathering that RSS was doing a yeoman's service in building nation and developing good human beings.
Chief guest on the occasion, Dr Ganga Raju criticised the "mis-management" of funds of big temples, particularly the Tirupati shrine in Andhra Pradesh, by the politicians. He also expressed serious concern over rampant conversion activity by missionaries
Crores of rupees are being donated by the devotees and there is a need for proper utilisation of funds collected there, Ganga raju said demanding that the practice of conversion by allurement be stopped forthwith.
