CM Pema Khandu awarded with ‘Flower of Joy’ for his extraordinary leadership

Itanagar, October 30: While Tawang Festival got celebrated with enthusiasm, where Chief Minister Pema Khandu was awarded the ‘Flower of Joy’ Award by the Tendhon Cultural Preservation Society (TCPS) in its 27th-anniversary celebration at general ground Tawang. The award, a replica of Ashoka’s lion emblem, was awarded to the Chief Minister on behalf of the people of Monyul as an appreciation and respect for his extraordinary leadership and achievements, an official report said. 

The 5th edition of Tawang Festival kicked off at the general ground in Tawang. Also Chief Minister Pema Khandu inaugurated the festival and attended the street carnival show held at old market.

Underlining the CM’s new policies and initiatives in taking the State to a new height of development and prosperity, Tendhon Cultural Preservation Society’s head said that “The great works and achievements of yours will remain in the history of this.”

On the occasion, a book titled “His Holiness the XIV Dalai Lama’s 6th visit and teaching in Mon Tawang’ was jointly released by the CM and the dignitaries present. This was followed by the presentation of Thangka as a souvenir to the CM and other distinguished guests.

Artistes from the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts (TIPA), Gangkhar and Lumla Cultural troupe presented felicitation songs and colorful cultural dances during the celebration. The CM announced that the State government will soon have a memorandum of understanding with TIPA to facilitate training of Buddhist arts and culture to the Monpa youth to generate interest in their age-old culture.
