BJP moves one step ahead in #CongressMuktBharat ; Jai Ram Thakur takes oath as CM of Himachal

Shimla, December 27: After registering a historic win in Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections has taken one more step ahead in #CongressMuktBharat. Senior BJP leader Jai Ram Thakur on Wednesday took the oath as new Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP Chief Amit Shah and chief ministers of all BJP-ruled states and those governed by NDA allies.

 

After registering a significant win in Himachal Pradesh Assembly polls, Governor Acharya Devvrat administered the oath of office and secrecy to Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur and other ministers. The swearing-in-ceremony held at the historic Ridge Ground of Shimla in the presence of nearly 10,000 people.


Apart from Jai Ram Thakur, other cabinet ministers including Mahendra Singh, Kishan Kapoor, Suresh Bhardwaj, Anil Sharma, Sarveen Choudhary, Ram Lal Markanda, Vikram Singh, Virender Kanwar, Govind Singh took the oath.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP President Amit Shah, senior party leader Lal Krishan Advani, eight Union Ministers including Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari and Chief Ministers of BJP ruled states including Yogi Adityanath, Devendra Fadnavis was present at the swearing-in ceremony. This was the first time when any of the Prime Minister attended the oath-taking ceremony of the Chief Minister in Himachal Pradesh.

Earlier, former CM of Himachal Pradesh, Prem Kumar Dhumal proposed Jairam Thakur’s name for Legislature party leader which was also supported by senior leaders including Shanta Kumar, Union Minister JP Nadda, Nirmala Sitharaman and Narendra Singh Tomar.

A five-time MLA, Jairam Thakur won Siraj Assembly seat of Mandi district this time, had earlier been the party's state unit chief and a minister in a government headed by Prem Kumar Dhumal. He was born on the 6th of January, 1965 in Tandi village of Mandi district.

Before elections, party president Amit Shah announced at a public meeting on 1 November that the leader will be given a prominent role once BJP assumes power. Interestingly, BJP has moved one step ahead in #CongressMuktBharat after historically winning the Assembly Elections in Himachal Pradesh. BJP registered a comfortable win in Himachal Pradesh after winning 44 seats of the state's 68 seats.
