Chennai, September 12: Today All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) ousted V Sasikala from all party positions; Lt. ‘Jayalalithaa’ named to be ‘Eternal General Secretary’, was decided in a General Council Meeting which was held under the chairmanship of Chairman E Madhusudhanan after two warring factions within AIADMK merged together. The meeting also resolved to amend the party’s by-laws, indicating that there would be no general secretary in the future.

Today O Palaniswami and E Palaniswami have taken back control of the AIADMK from the VK Sasikala camp, passing a resolution that only those appointed by Jayalalithaa before her death shall continue to be office-bearers. The General Council has also quashed all decisions made by Sasikala’s nephew TTV Dinakaran. The party also passed a resolution that made the late former party supremo and Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa the permanent General Secretary of the party.

Also, the AIADMK also vowed that it would begin the fight with the Election Commission to bring back the party symbol - the two leaves after it was taken away during the split that occurred between the two factions of the party. In August, the two warring factions of the party represented by O Panneerselvam and chief minister Edapaddi Palaniswami had united, signalling the end of the road for Sasikala who is in jail for corruption as well as her nephew TTV Dinakaran.

Retorting back to this decision taken in the General Council Meeting, TTV Dhinakaran said that he would begin work to oust this government as he continued his offensive on Panneerselvam and Palaniswami.

Party affairs would now be managed by a steering committee, as announced during the merger of the factions led by chief minister K. Palaniswami and his deputy O. Panneerselvam on 21 August.
