Pink City kick starts its five day literature festival!

Jaipur, January 25: Literature plays an important role and that it is indispensably precise because it is the voice of the individual. The individual knows that he or she can’t be pushed into one single box or category, and likewise emotions can’t be reduced to simplicity. Literature helps in moulding yourself into something which a person desires to be and brings out the personality within itself.

 

In a city tense over ongoing protests by the Karni Sena on the release of the film Padmaavat, the five-day Jaipur Literature Festival at the fortified Diggi Palace was inaugurated in the presence of former Rajasthan governor Margaret Alva.

Numbers says a lot but this Jaipur Literature Festival 2018 speaks volumes. Known as the Kumbh of literature, this five-day festival has kick started in the pink city. Featuring around 200 sessions on a multitude of topics, trends, ideas, genres and range of fiction, poetry, non-fiction the 11th edition of the Festival also comprises other sections of literature like environment, gender equality, science, history, journalism, economics, cinema etc.

The Pink City is once again ready to host for the art and literature lovers from the country and abroad. Thousands of people have reached Jaipur to participate in this festival. Looking forward to this fest, music and art experiences are always a highlight. After all, Zakhir Hussain, Kailash Kher, Shilpa Rao, and the Skavengers will be present, along with Afro Celt Sound System, Trippy Sama & Barmer Boys and others.

Other renowned personalities of literature, cinema, and culture will be attending the festival including Hamid Karzai, Muhammad Yunus, Mridula Garg, Bollywood personalities Anurag Kashyap, Sharmila Tagore and Soha Ali Khan, popular writers Ashwin Sanghi, Amish, Chetan Bhagat, Sudha Murthy and several others.
