12 days extravaganza for bookworms : 42nd Kolkata international book fair inaugurated

Saltlake, January 31: Kolkata and its love for literarure, both are famous worldwide. All book lovers of Bengal will now folk to 42nd Kolkata International book fair, which was inagurated on Tuesday by veteran Bengali actor Soumitra Chattopadhay in presence of Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The focal theme country for 2018 is France.

The fair assumed to be world's largest attended book fair will be open for public from Wednesday. The book lovers can seek and choose books from every genre, various languages, several countries, lakhs of authors till 11th february.

This time the venue of kolkata book fair has changed from Milan Mela prangan to Bidhannagar mela ground. Central Park Mela Complex at Salt Lake in Karunamayee will host the fair from 12 pm to 8pm everday. Along with that the fifth edition of Kolkata Literature Festival will be held from 8th to 10th February. Authors from different corners of the world will partcipate in interactive sessons with readers.

During the inaguration ceremony, Mamata Banerjee wxpressed warm gestures to focal country, the guests of the city. She termed France as World’s culturtal capital while Bengal is usually called as India’s cultural capital.
