New Delhi, October 8: Walking on the path of senior Indian cricket team, the Indian Under-19 boys registered a comfortable victory over Sri Lanka in the final to win the U-19 Asia Cup for the sixth time. India thrashed Sri Lanka by 144 runs in the summit clash in Dhaka thanks to spinner Harsh Tyagi's six-wicket haul.

Chasing a mammoth 305 for a victory, Sri Lanka kept losing wickets and crumbled for 160 in 38.4 overs as Tyagi finished with an impressive figures of 6/38. Earlier, India rode on half-centuries from Yashasvi Jaiswal (85), stand-in skipper PrabhSimran Singh (65 not out), Anuj Rawat (57) and Ayush Badoni (unbeaten 52) to post 304/3 in their 50 overs.

India are the most successful team in the youth Asia Cup history winning titles in 1989, 2003, 2012 (shared), 2014, 2016, 2018. Only two other nations, Pakistan (2012 shared) and Afghanistan (2017) have also had success in the past.

Just 9 days ago, the senior team had defeated Bangladesh in a closely-fought final in Dubai to emerge as continental champions. Runaway favourites, India outplayed Sri Lanka in all departments by first scoring an imposing 304 for three at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium after skipper PrabhSimran Singh won the toss and elected to bat.

All the Indian batsmen contributed with openers Yashasvi Jaiswal (85 off 113 balls) and Anuj Rawat (57 off 79 balls) creating solid foundation with 121-run stand. However, the highlight of the Indian innings was Ayush Badoni's blistering unbeaten knock of 52 off 28 balls which included five sixes and two fours. Along with skipper PrabhSimran, Badoni added 110 runs in 9.1 overs to literally bat Sri Lanka out of the match.

Tyagi flighted a few and fired a few down the channel in what was his best performance at the U-19 level till date. Indian batting's most entertaining part was the death overs when Badoni and PrabhSimran brutally assaulted the opposition spinners.

In an over from left-arm spinner Shashika Dulshan, Badoni hit four sixes with a couple of them landing in stands.
