Cold Wave continues to freeze North India

New Delhi, Dec 26: Intense cold wave persisted in North India with stayed below with mercury with lowest temperate.

Yesterday on Christmas, Delhi recorded a minimum temperature, 5 Celsius. Flight operations were partially suspended at the Delhi Airport due to low visibility conditions.

 

Cold wave intensified across Kashmir as the mercury slipped further below the freezing point.

 

The Himachal Pradesh, cold wave conditions sustained with the minus 3.4 degrees in Keylong and Famous destination Manali reeling at minus 3.2 degrees.

 
India Meteorological Department stated that the cold wave conditions were observed ‘at isolated places over Punjab, North Rajasthan, Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh, and East Madhya Pradesh’ on Tuesday. Minimum temperatures across Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and the surrounding areas will be cooler than normal due to the cold northeasterly flow. Ground frost is possible with a temperature 3°C or below.
 
Scattered rain or snow is possible over Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.

Dry weather with gentle breezes is forecast across northern, central, western, eastern and northeastern India. Air quality will be poor or very poor across the country especially around major cities such as Delhi, Kolkata, and Mumbai.

Kalpa, Solan, Bhuntar (Himachal Pradesh) observed sub-zero temperature. 

This cold wave resultant into frozen water bodies and water supply lines in several residential lines.

According to the official statement, the cold wave conditions are likely to continue in the two states over the next few days.

Dense fog was also witnessed in various parts of Rajasthan among cold wave conditions. Traffic movement was affected Churu, Pilani, and Jaipur where ‘visibility’ was as low as 50 to 90 meter and 90 to 100 meter in Bikaner, Alwar, Bhilwara, and Chittorgarh.
