Hague, Dec 31: The Periodic Table of Chemical Elements is one of the most significant achievements in science, catching the essence of not only chemistry but also of physics and biology.

To honor the 150th anniversary of the discovery of Periodic Tables, UN proclaimed 2019 as “International Year of Periodic Table of Chemical Elements” (IYPT2019) by UN General Assembly and UNESCO.

The opening ceremony of this initiative is on January 29, 2019.

1869 is considered as the year of discovery of the Periodic system by Dmitri Mendeleev. Periodic Table of Chemical elements is the unique tool which enables scientists to predict the appearance and properties of the matter of Earth and in the rest of the Universe. The periodic table is the tabular arrangement of the chemical elements arranged by atomic number, electron configuration and recurring chemical properties with periodic trends.

The initiative for IYPT2019 is supported by IUPAC in partnership with the International Union of Pure Applied Physics (IUPAP), European Association for Chemical and Molecular Science (EuCHeMS), the International Council for Science (ICSU), International Astronomical Union (IAU) and the International Union of History and Philosophy of Science and Technology (IUHPS).

The events and activities under this initiative are going to celebrate scientific spirit globally.

The initiator of this program is “Mendeleev Chemical Society”.
