Metro services start today from Lajpat Nagar to Mayur Vihar Pocket 1

New Delhi, December 31: Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri, Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia and Ambassador of Japan to India Kenji Hiramatsu today flagged off the Lajpat Nagar to Mayur Vihar Pocket-1 section of the Pink Line of Delhi Metro.


 

Housing and Urban Affairs Secretary Durga Shanker Mishra and Managing Director of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Dr. Mangu Singh were present on the occasion.

Passenger services will commence on the Lajpat Nagar-Mayur Vihar Pocket -1 corridor from 4 PM today. The ten kilometer stretch is the extension of 59 kilometers long Majlis Park-Shiv Vihar corridor. It will be a major boon for the commuters of prominent areas like Ashram and Mayur Vihar.

The section has five stations namely Vinoba Puri, Ashram, Hazrat Nizamuddin, Mayur Vihar -I and Mayur Vihar Pocket-1. The Hazrat Nizamuddin Metro station on this stretch will connect the Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway station as well as the Inter-State Bus Terminal at Sarai Kale Khan.

The Delhi Metro network will now become 327 kilometers long with 236 Metro stations. The Metro has opened over 90 kilometres of new lines this year. All the major corridors under Delhi Metro’s Phase 3 within the city of Delhi have now been opened.
