Bhubaneswar, December 8: Intensifying the scenario, the India-Canada hockey match was one of the most interesting in the tournament so far. India had its own “Chak De” moment in the final quarter scoring two goals in two minutes to earn a direct ticket to the quarterfinal round. India finished atop in Pool C with a remarkable 5-1 win over Canada.

For a moment in the game, Canada managed to silence the Indian uproar at the Kalinga National Stadium. The visitors' unrelenting efforts through the second quarter bore results in the third as Floris van Son scored the equaliser capitalising on the mistake from Simranjeet Singh. India couldn't afford a draw on Saturday in Bhubaneshwar in a bid to avoid the crossovers. But India went all guns blazing in the final quarter scoring two goals in two minutes to earn a direct ticket to the quarterfinal round.
India had to score to avoid any nervous moment later in the match. Currently they are heading to the quarterfinals but a draw will drag them to the crossovers.
Canada forced a turnover from a mistake by Simranjeet and executed a fine counter-attack to score. Things are back on level terms now and both teams are heading to cross-overs. There is no doubt Belgium will be keeping an eye on the score as well.
India are bossing it around now - they have matched the score of Belgium vs South Africa match with this strike.
Both India and Belgium have had the same kind of results in Pool C - a win, a draw, and win finally. Both finish group stage with seven points. But India stand atop in terms of goal difference of eight, while Belgium have six.
