New Delhi, March 19: “We are ready to discuss on the issue of no-confidence motion and we appeal to everyone that there should be a discussion on the issue,” said Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh while talking amidst ruckus created by several political parties in Lok Sabha. No confidence motion remained to abstain as Lok Sabha today was adjourned after continuous chaos. The motion has been filed by the YSR Congress Party and the TDP, both of which are unhappy at Andhra Pradesh not being given 'special category status.

While BJP was ready to face the no-confidence motion, Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Ananth Kumar on Sunday said, "I want to tell the Congress and other opposition members that there is confidence inside and outside the house. That’s why the BJP is ready to face the no-confidence motion."

As several parties are set to move ‘no confidence’ motion against Modi government, today Lok Sabha received 3 requests for the motion one by Yuvajana Shramika Rythu Congress Party (YSR) Congress and the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) are annoyed with the NDA government over denial of special category status to Andhra Pradesh as was promised by the UPA government in 2014 when the state was bifurcated to create Telangana.

We for last 4 years after the state was bifurcated have been fighting for special category status. Till 2016, BJP & Chandrababu Naidu kept saying that special status will be given. Then suddenly, he colluded with BJP, he is like a chameleon, he decided against the state said VS Reddy, YSRCP MP.

We will move the no-confidence motion; have talked to opposition parties including TMC, Congress and Samajwadi Party. YSRCP is just doing politics; they are not concerned about the welfare of state said Thota Narsimham, TDP MP.

Last week, after the Centre made clear that it would not grant special category status to Andhra Pradesh, YSR Congress Party gave its first no-trust motion which was followed by TDP that broke its ties with BJP and brought a no-confidence motion of its own.

After breaking away with NDA in the wake of demand for Special category status for Andhra Pradesh, CM N Chandrababu Naidu wooed its minority community members. Addressing minority wing members in Andhra Pradesh today CM Chandrababu Naidu, said, "You have always been supportive of TDP, but you were not happy that we allied with BJP. We have been working for the welfare of Muslims." CM Naidu said, “We thought as an NDA member, BJP will do justice to the state, but nothing happened. We waited for four years, but of no use. Even in the last budget justice was not done."

The government has expressed confidence that the notices, even if they are admitted, will be defeated given its strength in the Lok Sabha. The current strength of the Lok Sabha is 539 and the ruling BJP has 274 members, more than the majority mark of 270, and enjoys the support of several allies.
