New Delhi, April 5: So-called explosive Pakistani batsman Shahid Afridi walks parallel with criticism. Earlier, he was criticized for his batting performances and now he is being strongly criticized for his unnecessary statements given on the situation of Jammu and Kashmir. Notably, Shahid Afridi is being criticized severely for his controversial comments on Kashmir.

Hitting back at Shahid Afridi for his controversial comments on Kashmir, India cricketers including legend Kapil Dev and Sachin Tendulkar said that he shouldn’t be paid attention. Suresh Raina, Virat Kohli, Mohammad Kaif and many other Twiteratis exploded at Afridi and downplayed him.

Shahid Afridi on Tuesday said on Twitter, "We respect all. And this is an example as sportsman. But when it comes to human rights we expect the same for our innocent Kashmiris." With the tweet, Afridi posted a picture of himself with an Indian fan holding the Tricolour.

Cricket legend Kapil Dev was the first to react to the controversial statement of Afridi and said that it was best not to react to certain people adding that he respects the government's policies. While Sachin Tendulkar said, "We have got capable people to manage our country, run our country. No outsider needs to tell us what we need to do.”

On the other side, Suresh Raina and renowned lyricist Javed Akhtar asked Afridi to advise the Pakistan Army that it stops supporting extremists for maintaining peace in the Valley. Raina took to a twitter saying, “Kashmir is an integral part of India and will remain so always. Kashmir is the pious land where my forefathers were born. I hope @SAfridiOfficial bhai asks Pakistan Army to stop terrorism and proxy war in our Kashmir. We want peace, not bloodshed and violence.”

Javed Akhtar said, “Dear Mr Afridi , since you want to see a peaceful JK sans any human rights violations could you please see to it that pak terrorists stop infiltrations n pak army stops supporting the separatists by closing down the training camps . It will greatly help in solving the problem.”

Former India player Mohammad Kaif said Afridi would not have made the comments had Pakistani cricketers were still playing in the Indian Premier League.

"'Paisa Bolta Hai'. Can't imagine Afridi making these comments if Pakistani players were still playing in the IPL. Rather, what's needed to be condemned foremost is the reason because of which Pakistani players are not allowed to play in the IPL - Infiltration from Pakistani terrorists and Pakistan's support to separatists," Kaif wrote on his Twitter handle. "We wish peace and love but peace is a two way street," he added.

Meanwhile, Indian skipper Virat Kohli said being an Indian, country's interest was paramount to him. "As an Indian you want to express what is best for your nation and my interests are always for the benefit of our nation. If anything opposes it, I would never support it for sure. But having said that, it's a very personal choice for someone to make comment about certain issues," Kohli said.

"Unless I have total knowledge of the issues and the intricacies of it I don't engage in it. Obviously, it goes without saying that your priority stays with your nation and anything that opposes it, you oppose it as well,” he added.
