Significant step towards security, Assam launches RPF Women Squad for women safety

Guwahati, January 22: Prioritizing women safety and keeping their security at peak, the state of Assam has taken a significant step towards enhancing the security of women in the north-east region. The state has dedicated its people a RPF (Railway Protection Force) Women Squad comprising of women constables and inspectors for women safety.

 

RPF (Railway Protection Force) of Lumding Division has taken a significant step towards enhancing the security of women in the north-east region. The RPF Women Squad is named as ‘Joymati Bahini’ after the courageous princess Joymati. The main aim of the division is to strengthen women security around Guwahati region with the railway premises and trains.

The members of the ‘JOYMATI BAHINI’ started their duty by interacting with women passengers at the Guwahati & Kamkhya Railway station to provide and ensure foolproof security arrangements for women & children. Passengers are also being told to dial 182 immediately in case of any emergency on running trains or platforms. Their main focus area is to enhance women security by ensuring sanctity of reserved compartments, women compartments.

During the launching of JOYMATI BAHINI by Inspector General/NFR, Sr. Divisional Security Commissioner of RPF Raghuveer Chooka also briefed everyone about the performance of RPF during the year 2018 in which at least 301 distressed women & child were provided assistance by the RPF team over the Lumding division.

From crime prospective this year in Lumding division, detection percentage has been increased from 46% to 75 % as compared to last year 2017.
