Khelo India Youth Games: Maharashtra all prepare for hosting the games

Mumbai, Jan 7: Maharashtra is all set up for hosting 2nd edition of “Khelo India Youth Games” which is officially commence on January 9 in Pune.

The games are going to held on Balewadi Sports Complex in Pune with ‘improved’ sports infrastructure with an upgraded shooting range.

The sports minister of Maharashtra, Vinod Tawade said, “competition will take place in 18 different disciplines and over 900 athletes from the host state will take part in these games.”

Further he added, it is honor for Maharashtra to host these games.

 

For these games, with the funds from the center and the state government funds, the recreation took place of sports infrastructure at the Balewadi Sports Complex in Pune.

Tawade added, all the stadiums have been upgraded, electronic and digital targets have been fitted at the shooting range.

14000 persons including 9000 sportspersons and 4000 managers will be approaching for these games.

Tawade said, “Because of Khelo India, these sportspersons will be identified at young age, get training and scholarship which will benefit them in career.”

The Balewadi sports complex will be the main venue, archery will be held at the Army Sports Institute and girl’s hockey matches at the NDA hockey ground in Pune.

It has already been announced that Youth Olympics gold medalists in shooting, Manu Bhaker and Saurabh Chaudhary, as well as weightlifter Jeremy Lalrinnunga, will be among the cream of India's young sporting talent competing at these Games.
