Mumbai, October 25: The Mumbai Economic Offences Wing investigating the PMC bank scam on Friday has launched a manhunt to nab one of the directors on the PMC Bank Board who helped clear loans to HDIL leading to the crisis in the bank.

The Mumbai EOW's remand report submitted to the court while seeking extension of custodial remand for arrested accused Director Surjit Singh Arora who remains under arrest said, "Daljit Singh Bal, one of the key members on the loan committee of the PMC bank, along with Arora, had been instrumental in recommending the loans handed over to them by the bank staff."

The remand report further said that attempts are being made to contact Daljit Singh Bal. Despite having received and read the messages on social media, Bal hasn't responded to Mumbai EOW's summons for questioning.

Arora had received crores of rupees from the defaulters HDIL promoters Sarang and Rakesh Wadhawan through various accounts. When questioned regarding the received funds, Arora did not give any satisfactory answers to the EOW.

The Metropolitan Magistrate court on Thursday, after hearing arguments from both sides, sent Arora to judicial custody. Meanwhile, Rakesh and Sarang Wadhawan who were arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in the PMC bank scam were produced in a PMLA court and were also sent to judicial custody. The Wadhawans have been in the ED's custody since their arrest by the agency on October 18.
