Shubh Dhanteras, Shubh Diwali: Nation embraces into the golden spirit of #Dhanteras

New Delhi, October 25: Let's celebrate the festival of lights with joy and enthusiasm. Today on the auspicious occasion of Dhanteras, people are celebrating ‘Dhanatrayodashi’ across the country. This auspicious day is where people buy new utensils, gold ornaments etc. Buying ornaments on this day brings good luck and wealth into the lives of the people.

 

Dhanteras also known as Dhantrayodashi is the first day of the Diwali festival and Hindus worship Kubera – the god of wealth – as a tradition. As the folklore go, it is also believed that Goddess Lakshmi came out of the ocean during the churning of the milky sea ( Samudramanthan) with a pot of gold and wealth on this day. Dhanteras is also known as the day of Yamadeepdaan.

Also, today, the 4th Ayurveda Day to be organized on October 25 at National Institute of Ayurveda, Jaipur, Rajasthan. Dhanwantari Pujan and “National Dhanwantari Ayurveda Awards -2019” ceremony will be held at NIA, Rajasthan.

Ministry of AYUSH decided to celebrate Ayurveda Day every year on the day of Dhanvantari Jayanti (Dhanteras) since 2016.
