New Delhi, October 3: Committing to prosperity of people in their country and aligning their democracies together, Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with Mauritius PM Pravind Jugnauth inaugurated phase-1 of Mauritius Metro Express and a new ENT Hospital through video conference on Thursday. The Prime Minister also addressed the gathering at the inauguration and spoke about close ties between India and Mauritius.
Inaugurating the Metro Express, PM Modi in his address said, “Both India and Mauritius are diverse and vibrant democracies committed to working towards prosperity of our people as well as peace in our region and the world. Our mutual regard for each other finds aspiration in a number of ways.”
This year Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth graced the largest ever Pravasi Bharatiya Divas as a chief guest and also for the inauguration for the second term of my government. Our President was invited as a chief guest on the fifth-anniversary celebrations of the Independence of Mauritius. In the 150th year of Mahatma Gandhi, Mauritius paid homage to his abiding memory and remembers the special bond with him."
PM Modi also spoke about the contribution from both sides in the growth of the maritime economy. He said, “The Indian Ocean is a bridge between India and Mauritius. The ocean economy holds great promise for our people. The vision security and growth of all in the region will guide us to work closely together in all aspects of the maritime economy, security, and disaster risk resolution.”
Adding the Prime Minister said, “I would like to thank the government of Mauritius for joining the coalition of disaster-resilient infrastructure. In a month's time, Apravasi Diwas will be celebrated at the world heritage site of Apravasi Guard. It will mark the successful struggle of our brave ancestors. Their struggle has borne rich fruits in the form of the great success of Mauritius in this century. We salute the remarkable spirit of the people of Mauritius. Long live India Mauritius friendship.”
