Caution! IMD predicts very heavy rainfall in Tamil Nadu and Kerala On Thursday

New Delhi, October 30: Rain is not yet ready to take exit from the country! Today’s IMD Forecasts suggest that very heavy rains are likely to continue on Thursday in major parts of Tamil Nadu and kerala. 

 
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts that the depression is expected to strengthen further into a cyclonic storm within the next 72 hours and has issued orange alert across Tamil Nadu. On Wednesday alone, the state received an average of 36mm rainfall with Tiruvallur district recording the maximum of 72mm.
The districts under orange alert include Tiruvarur, Thanjavur, Pudukkottai, Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Theni, Dindigul, Madurai, Virudhunagar, Tirunelveli, Sivaganga, Ramanathapuram, Toothukudi and Kanyakumari. Other districts including Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Nagapattinam, Vellore and Trichy are also put under a yellow watch.
 
IMD has also issued a red warning for Lakshadweep for Wednesday and Thursday with extremely heavy rainfall forecast. Meteorologists have issued an orange warning for six districts in Kerala. On Thursday, an orange alert has been issued for four districts, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram and Kozhikode.
Meanwhile, Cyclone Kyarr has moved further westwards, and is over 1100 km west-northwest of Mumbai and 350km east-southeast of Oman. The very severe cyclonic storm is likely to gradually weaken into a cyclonic storm by October 31.
