Putting across principle of national integration, 'Run for Unity' grabs rush in all the states pan India

New Delhi, October 31: Commemorating 144th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel who strived or national integration, MHA Amit Shah today flagged off the Run for Unity in New Delhi in presence of Hardeep Singh Puri, RK Singh, Kiren Rijiju, G Kishan Reddy, Delhi Lt Governor Anil Baijal and Union Home Secretary Ajay K Bhalla.
 
 
While the participants comprising sportspersons, enthusiasts and personnel from central police forces wore uniform, white T-shirts with a photo of Patel embossed on it, none were seen using a face mask. The national capital and its adjoining areas remained shrouded in toxic haze for the fourth consecutive day on Thursday as air quality remained in severe category.
Meanwhile in Maharashtra, Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis flagged off the 'Run for Unity' marking Patel's birth anniversary on Thursday. Also Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman participated in the Run, walking through flooded roads in Chennai amid heavy rainfall in Tamil Nadu.
However, inaugurating the Run for Unity in Uttar Pradesh, CM Yogi Adityanath said, "For the integrity and unity of the country, people should know about the importance of Sardar Patel ji, his great personality and the work done by him for the country".
"Even today many anti-India forces are active. For their benefit, they are constantly plotting to break the country on the basis of caste, religion, region and language. Expose such forces. This was done by Sardar Patel as the first Home Minister of the country", he added.
National Unity day, also known as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas is celebrated every year on 31st of October by the people all through India. Rashtriya Ekta Diwas or National Unity Day was introduced by the Government of India in 2014 with the aim of celebrating this event every year on 31st October.
The aim of introducing this event is to pay tribute to the great man, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, on his birth anniversary by remembering his extraordinary works for the country. He really worked hard in keeping India united.
