Los Angles, October 31: Possessing a chance to surpass Michael Jackson's record of winning most American Awards, singer Taylor Swift is slated to be conferred with the Artist of the Decade award at 2019's American Music Awards. The announcement was made by Dick Clark Productions on Wednesday, saying that singer Swift will be honoured during its November 24 ceremony.

While Swift is slated to hit the stage to perform some of her biggest hits of her more than a decade long career, her impact on music this decade has remained undeniable and her performances on the American Music Awards have been truly spectacular.

"We're thrilled to honour her as our Artist of the Decade and can't wait for her to blow everyone away with an epic, career-spanning performance unlike any other," Mark Bracco, executive vice president of programming and development at dick clark productions, said in a statement.
Swift currently has the most AMA wins of any female artist ever with 23 awards. At this year's ceremony, she's nominated for artist of the year, favorite music video, favorite female artist, pop-rock, favorite album, pop-rock and favorite artist - adult contemporary.

The AMAs didn't announce an artist of the decade for the '00s, but at the January 2000 AMA show, Garth Brooks was announced as the artist of the decade for the just ended '90s. That same show included announcements of fan voted awards for the artists of the decade for the '50s Elvis Presley, the '60s the Beatles, the '70s Stevie Wonder and the '80s Michael Jackson.
