Green decision for clean environment! Five lakh government vehicles to be converted into e-vehicles

New Delhi, November 1: Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar today announced that all the 5 lakh government vehicles on conventional fuel will be converted into e-vehicle in a phased manner. Javadekar flagged-off the electric vehicles procured by the MIB in New Delhi today.

 
The minister said that besides their cost-effectiveness, these e-vehicle are eco-friendly and save consumption of petrol and diesel. E-vehicles can play major role in curbing high level of pollution in Delhi during winters. The government under the leadership of PM Modi has taken several initiatives to reduce the pollution level. He further said that during the last 15 years only discussions were done on the issue of pollution but the NDA-led government has taken concrete steps to address the menace. 
 
Javadekar also informed that construction of eastern peripheral expressway has resulted into low level of pollution in Delhi-NCR.
