Mumbai, November 11: Striving to build the doors of fortune for self, Shiv Sena's Aditya Thackrey today headed to meet the Governor, claim stake to form the government, but unfortunately the clock had ticked off already! The party was give the deadline till 7:30 pm today that Aditya Thackrey probably failed to ensue.

"We told the Governor that we're willing to form the govt. We asked him for at least 2 days time but we weren't given time. The claim, to form govt isn't denied but the time is. We'll continue to put in efforts to form govt in the state", Aditya said while addressing the forum today.

"Both parties, Congress-NCP have been speaking to us, MLAs have been speaking to us. As talks are on, as second largest party it was our right to come here. We've expressed our willingness to form govt, we've asked for extension of 48 hrs to fulfill our procedure", he added.

This is after Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray made a phone call to Sonia Gandhi, who held back its support to a possible Shiv Sena-led government in Maharashtra at the last minute and declared that the party would need more discussions with the Nationalist Congress Party led by Sharad Pawar, the Maratha strongman who is seen as the alliance’s point person for an arrangement with the Sena.

“The Congress President (Sonia Gandhi) has spoken with Sharad Pawar. The party will have further discussion with NCP,” a short, 43-word statement issued by the Congress after marathon discussions over support to the Sena said. The official statement however contradicts earlier reports emanating from Mumbai that Sonia Gandhi had okayed the deal.

The Sena, which is the second-largest party in the 288 member House with 56 MLAs after the BJP, has time by evening today to stake claim, form government. While the Sena has been making efforts to reach out to the NCP and the Congress, the Sharad Pawar-led party on Sunday said the Sena will have to walk out of the NDA first.
