New Delhi, November 11: Ahead of the 50th anniversary of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting, over hundreds of Indian CEOs, deveral politicial leaders and many Bollywood stars are slated to be in the Switzerland ski resort town of Davos for a bigger, richer, powerful affair of the WEF.

"The annual meeting of rich and powerful from across the world is expected to be even a bigger affair this time because it would be its 50th anniversary", the statement read. "Some top global leaders will also be present. Geneva-based WEF has selected stakeholders for a cohesive and sustainable world as the theme for its 2020 annual meeting, which will bring together 3,000 global leaders", it added.

The World Economic Forum 2020 meeting aims to give a concrete meaning to stakeholder capitalism, assist governments and international institutions in tracking progress towards the Paris Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals. Four global issues clearly stand out as urgent and important, and are slated to feature prominently on the agenda at the Annual Meeting 2020 in Davos:

1. How to address the urgent climate and environmental challenges that are harming our ecology and economy?

2. How to transform industries to achieve more sustainable and inclusive business models as new political, economic, and societal priorities change trade and consumption patterns?

3. How to govern the technologies driving the fourth industrial revolution so they benefit business and society, while minimising their risks to them?

4. How to adapt to the demographic, social, and technological trends reshaping education, employment, and entrepreneurship?

The WEF, based in Cologny-Geneva, Switzerland, is an NGO, founded in 1971, with a membership of 1,000 multinationals corporations, on whose behalf it lobbies, primarily for deregulation. The meeting brings together some 2,500 business leaders, international political leaders, economists, celebrities and journalists for up to four days to discuss business deals.

The WEF's mission is cited as committed to improving the state of the world by engaging business, political, academic and other leaders of society to shape global, regional and industry agendas.
