Goa BJP to get new chief by Dec 15; Booth and mandal presidents to be appointed by Dec 10

Panaji, November 12: Waking ahead in the state's political development, Goa CM Pramod Sawant on Tuesday affirmed that the Goa BJP will be electing a new state unit president by December 15.
 
Tendulkar, leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party from Goa, is also a member of the Rajya Sabha, to which he was elected to in 2017, and serves as the president of state unit of the party. He was earlier the minister for forests in the Goa government. 


"The BJP has to elect its new state president by December 15. Before that booth and district level elections have to take place. Booth and mandal presidents will be appointed by December 10", CM Sawant said in relation.
 
Rajya Sabha MP Vinay Tendulkar is the current state unit chief and has been on the post for two terms since 2012. Sawant on Monday evening chaired a meeting of party MLAs and office bearers to finalise its organisational election process.
 
The key political players in Goa state in Western India are the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, Indian National Congress, Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party and Goa Vikas Party. While There are only 2 Lok Sabha, lower house of the Indian Parliament, constituencies in Goa, the state Legislative Assembly has 40 seats.
