J&K slates an impressive development, issues 11.35 lakh Golden Cards under Ayushman Bharat

Srinagar, November 12: Pulling up gears by reviewing the developments made in the newly formed Union Territory, Lt. Governor Girish Chandra Murmu reviewed the Health and Medical Education sector and also the externally aided projects being executed by the Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA). On an impressive note, Jammu and Kashmir till date has issued 11.35 lakh Golden Cards against the target of 31 lakh, highest number in the country, under Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY).

 

Informing about the meeting, an official said, “While reviewing the sector, Lt. Governor urged for achieving 100 % distribution of Golden Cards at the earliest and directed for providing internet connection to all the government hospitals implementing the Ayushman Bharat scheme.” Adding further he said, “He directed installation of heavy duty generators in all the government hospitals of Jammu and Kashmir and also advised for exploring renewable energy sector for meeting power demand of the health care sector,” the statement said.

Lt. Governor emphasised strengthening of healthcare infrastructure and directed expediting works on medi-cities, operationalization of 102 and 108 ambulance service, proper disposal of medical waste and achieve targets under the National Immunization Programme.

In another meeting Lt. Governor reviewed various externally aided projects being executed by the Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA) including those for ensuring 24*7 water supply, solid waste management, urban transport etc in Srinagar and Jammu cities.
Rohit Kansal, Principal Secretary Planning, Development and Monitoring Department gave the Presentation. Dheeraj Gupta, Principal Secretary Housing and Urban Development Department, Avny Lavasa, CEO, ERA participated in the meeting.

While reviewing the Jehlum Tawi Flood Recovery Project (JTFRP), Lt. Governor suggested to take up drainage works on priority and follow due procedures for pre monsoon check of the system. He emphasised revival of natural water bodies in J&K which channelize excess water flow in case of floods like situation.

Lt. Governor directed for establishment of a fool proof Disaster Control room capable of functioning effectively even during any flood exigency. He advised the ERA to ensure strict quality control while executing works under various projects.
