Jharkhand to provide postal voting facility to Divyang and above 80 years

Ranchi, November 12: Several steps have been taken by the Election Commission to ensure the participation of voters in the electoral process. In this connection, for the first time, the voters of Divyang and above 80 years of age are giving the facility of voting by postal ballot. Giving details in this regard, Chief Electoral Officer Vinay Kumar Choubey, in a meeting with the District Social Welfare Officers of all the districts, today said that it is being implemented as a pilot in all the polling stations of seven assembly constituencies in Jharkhand. These constituencies include 1- Rajmahal, 5-Pakur, 9-Jamtara, 15-Deoghar, 17-Godda, 36-Bokaro and 40-Dhanbad.


 

The Chief Electoral Officer said that in the Vidhan Sabha Election 2019, all the workers associated with the election are working towards the completion of the election with the resolution of not leaving a single voter. This will give respect to the ideals of the Constitution of India that is justice, equality, freedom and fraternity to all its citizens.

A booth-wise campaign is being carried out to mark eligible voters to be included in the voter list. Efforts are being made to use differently-abled talents who have achieved achievements at various levels in the state and district level by making them disabled as state and district icons. In this sequence, Golu Ohdar has been made a state icon in the Assembly Election 2019. Disabled voters will be provided facilities in polling stations as before. Voter chip is provided in Braille script for blind voters. Additional Chief Electoral Officer Krishnand Jha reviewed the preparations being made in relation to the facilities provided to the disabled voters.
