Raipur, November 13: In Sukma district of Naxal-affected Chhattisgarh, the security forces have achieved great success. On Monday, nine Naxalites surrendered with weapons. These include two female Naxalites. The Naxals who laid down their arms said that they were determined to surrender, frustrated by the ideology and violence of Maoism hollowed out by the Naxalites.

Among those who surrendered were Swayambhu Divisional Commander Gaddo Krishna alias Badru (35). A reward of one million was declared on this. Badru was reportedly involved in several suicide attacks on security forces. Badru was also involved in the Naxalite attack in the Madwana area of Rajnandgaon in 2009 in which many police personnel including SP Vinod Chaubey were also killed.

At the same time, two Naxalites Madakam Boti, members of the local organization of Madakam Mukay Polapalli, deputy commander (local gorilla squad of Machkot) have also surrendered. The reward of three lakh and one lakh rupees was declared on them respectively.

Three months back, Four Naxalites, including the PLGA section commander, had surrendered in Bijapur district. Attracted by the government's Naxal rehabilitation policy, the Naxalites had surrendered.

The people who became Naxalites were angry that even after so many years of independence, neither the central government could reach their village nor any benefit of the state schemes reached them. Their feelings were further instigated by the Naxalites and they took up the gun. But seeing the Naxalites who have surrendered earlier, their thinking has changed and now they also want to join the mainstream.
