Making Ayodhya a best tourism venue, Yogi Adityanath allots Rs 447 cr to buy land for Lord Ram statue

Lucknow, November 2: In an attempt to project Ayodhya as a religious tourism center, the Uttar Pradesh government has plans to construct a statue of Lord Ram for which it has proposed a budget of over Rs 447 crore. This is apart from the Rs 200 cr sanctioned earlier this year for carrying out technical studies for building the statue.


 

This and other decisions were taken in a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in Lucknow on Friday.

In a tweet, government of Uttar Pradesh wrote, “For the development and beautification of tourism in Ayodhya, a proposal of Rs 447.46 crore was approved for the purchase of 61.3807 hectares of land for the establishment of a grand statue of Lord Shri Ram, a digital museum based on them, Interpretation Center, Liberi, Parking, Food Plaza etc.”

Government spokesman and Power Minister Shrikant Sharma said that Ayodhya would be developed as a religious tourism centre with a focus on the construction of a huge statue of Lord Ram.

 

“A digital library, interpretation centre and food plaza would be set up there. Beautification and landscaping of the region will be done to attract tourists from across the globe. The cabinet has approved a project costing Rs 447.46 crore of which Rs 100 crore has been released in fiscal 2019-20,” Sharma said.
