Mumbai, Nov 26: In a fast moving development prior to floor testing ordered by the Supreme Court today, Ajit Pawar, who took oath as Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra along with Chief Minister Devendra Fadanvis, put in his papers today.
Ajit Pawar, who caused a vertical split in the Nationalist Congress Party by submitting the letter of consent to the Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari in support of the BJP in Maharashtra has resigned as Deputy Chief Minister a short while ago.
His resignation has raised a big question mark on survival of the Fadnavis government when it faces the floor test tomorrow evening as ordered by the Supreme Court.
Attempts were continuously made to convince Ajit Pawar who also faced serious corruption charges, to reconsider his move and come back to the original flock. It seems that he yielded to these appeals and requests and finally tendered resignation leaving the fate of Fadnavis government in limbo.
