Ranchi, November 28: In Jharkhand, campaigning for the first phase of Assembly elections will come to an end this evening. 13 constituencies spread over six districts, including Palamu, Gumla, Garhwa and Latehar, will go to polls in this phase on November 30.
Leaders of all political parties are making last-ditch efforts to woo the voters. BJP President Amit Shah is addressing election meetings in Chatra and Garhwa today. Chief Minister Raghubar Das, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha Executive President Hemant Soren, Jharkhand Vikas Morcha President Babulal Marandi and All Jharkhand Students Union Chief Sudesh Kumar Mahto are also addressing election rallies in different constituencies.
Today is also the last day for withdrawal candidature for the third phase. 314 candidates are in the fray after scrutiny of nomination papers. Seventeen constituencies spread over eight districts, including Ranchi, Koderma, and Hazaribagh, which will go to polls in this phase on 12th December.
The 81-member Jharkhand Assembly will go to the polls in five phases between the 30th of November and the 20th of December. Counting of votes will be held on the 23rd of December.
