Chandigarh, November 4: Uniting together to celebrate oneness and humanity, India is coming together to celebrate the 550th Guru Nanak Dev ji birth anniversary. As a gesture of respect, the Punjab Government has started a free bus service to help devotees visit Sultanpur Lodhi during the 550th Parkash Purb celebrations.

 

Announcing about the same, the Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister Charanjit Singh Channi said the step was undertaken on the initiative of CM Capt Amarinder Singh. As many as 1,500 buses will ply daily to take devotees to Sultanpur Lodhi from November 5-12. The minister said the detailed schedule of the buses had been sent to the DCs and SDMs of all districts.

The buses have been allotted village and city-wise in every Assembly constituency so as to ensure that maximum number of devotees are able to visit Sultanpur Lodhi. He said the department had started a 24x7 toll-free number 1800-180-0550 for enabling people to obtain information with regard to the celebrations.

Thousands of devotees visit Sultanpur Lodhi daily to pay obeisance at Gurdwara Ber Sahib and other Sikh temples. Guru Nanak Dev had spent 14 years of his early life at Sultanpur Lodhi. Chief Minister Amarinder Singh has visited the historic town a number of times in recent weeks to personally supervise the arrangements to celebrate the event.
