New delhi, November 06: India's national capital has been breathing worst since few days, in pursuance of which the Environment Pollution Prevention and Control Authority declared health emergency, banning construction and closing schools till November 5.

The Air Quality today continued to remain 'very poor', though improved, as the schools and colleges reopened in the national capital. The air quality index was recorded at 324 on Tuesday morning while last night it was at 309.

Last week, the Air Quality Index bulletin had declared that October 31 in New Delhi, was the most polluted day this year that recorded 'severe plus' Air pollution' in the city. The ruling Kejriwal government there, playing a political gimmick, implemented the 'odd-even' scheme in order to reduce the pollution.

An AQI between 0-50 is considered good while 51-100 falls under satisfactory category; 101-200 is considered moderate. Trouble starts when the AQI is recorded between 201 and 300, poor, 301 and 400, very poor and 401 and 500, severe. Anything above 500 falls under the severe-plus emergency or hazardous category.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department forecast has estimated a partly cloudy sky with possibility of very light rain, only thundershowers towards the evening today. "The maximum temperature is expected to be 31 degrees while the minimum will be 18 degrees celsius", the MET said.
